Verified roof age and property-level hail risk insights support more consistent renewal and new business decisions for the educators and families WEA Member Benefits serves.

WEA Member Benefits, a trust created by Wisconsin educators in 1972 to serve public school employees and their families, has selected ZestyAI’s Risk Decision Platform to strengthen homeowners underwriting with verified roof information and property-level hail risk insights.

For more than 50 years, WEA Member Benefits has operated with a single mission: to advance and protect the financial well-being of public education employees and their families. As a trust with no shareholders, WEA Member Benefits reinvests its earnings into programs and services for its members. That makes accurate, individualized insurance decisions especially important: better information about each home helps the organization serve members based on the characteristics of their own property rather than broad assumptions about where they live.

WEA Member Benefits will use ZestyAI’s Roof Age and Z-HAIL™ solutions and together, they will give its insurance team a more complete view of two important factors in Wisconsin homeowners risk: the age of a roof and its vulnerability to hail.

ZestyAI’s Roof Age combines building permit records with more than 20 years of aerial imagery to identify when a roof was replaced and provide a confidence score with each result. This gives WEA Member Benefits another source of information when property records may be missing, outdated, or incomplete.

Z-HAIL evaluates hail risk at the individual property level by considering factors including roof characteristics, historical hail exposure, and local climatology. Rather than treating every home within a broad geographic area the same way, the model helps insurers understand meaningful differences from one property to another.

Z-HAIL also incorporates updated property information and mitigation measures, helping ensure that improvements homeowners make to protect their properties can be reflected in the information available to underwriters.

“Our members spend their careers taking care of their students, and our job is to take care of them,” said Tony Klemme, Vice President of Insurance Services at WEA Member Benefits.

“Reliable roof and hail information helps our underwriters make consistent, accurate decisions for the educators we exist to serve. ZestyAI stood out in our evaluation for the accuracy and predictive strength of its insights. And these insights help deliver a quality and competitive product with personalized service our members expect.”

“Teachers spend their careers protecting other people’s futures, and WEA Member Benefits was built to return that care,” said Attila Toth, Founder and CEO of ZestyAI.

“Last year, ZestyAI helped more than one million families and businesses obtain coverage. We’re proud to bring that same precision to the educators preparing Wisconsin’s next generation.”

Z-HAIL has received regulatory approval in more than 30 states, including Wisconsin, and ZestyAI’s broader portfolio of models has earned more than 500 approvals nationwide.
